Batman Voice Actor Kevin Conroy Passes Away At 66

Kevin Conroy, the famous voice actor behind Batman and Bruce Wayne Batman: The Animated Series, Batman Arkham Trilogy of Games, and many other projects have all died. He was 66 years old.

The news broke this morning with BTAS co-star Diane Pershing, who voiced Poison Ivy, posted on Facebook That Conroy passed away yesterday from an illness that was later diagnosed as cancer. Warner Bros. has since confirmed the news.

“Very sad news: our beloved voice of Batman, Kevin Conroy, died yesterday,” Pershing writes. “He has been ill for some time, but he has really spent a lot of time in opposition to the delight of all his fans. He will be greatly missed not only by the cast of the series but by the huge number of fans he has around the world.. .RIP, mate.”

Conroy’s acting career spanned several decades on stage, TV, and film, with numerous credits in the late 1970s. For a generation of comic book fans, his breakout role would be his portrayal of the critically acclaimed Bruce Wayne/Batman in 1992 Batman: The Animated Series, He would continue to voice Batman in later series and films within the DC Animated Universe, including The New Batman Adventures, Batman Beyond, Superman: The Animated Series, static Shock, Justice LeagueAnd Justice League Unlimited, Conroy also appeared in the Arrowverse series as the live-action version of Bruce Wayne, Batwoman,

“Kevin was a brilliant actor,” says Joker actor Mark Hamill in a press release from Warner Bros. “For many generations, he’s been the definitive Batman. It was one of those perfect scenarios where he found the exact right man for the exact right part, and the world was better for it. In video games, Conroy would lend his voice to the Dark Knight in several Batman titles, including the Injustice series and, perhaps most famously, Rocksteady’s Batman: Arkham Trilogy. He most recently voiced Batman in Warner Bros.’s fighting game, Multiverse.
