Today’s Xbox Developer Direct ended with a gameplay walkthrough from Arkane’s Raidfall. In addition to detailing how players will liberate the city of Redfall from its fiendish captors, the team also shared the release date: May 2nd.
The bulk of the presentation showed how players, either alone or working with up to three other friends, would clean up Redfall of the neighborhood’s vampire neighborhood. In addition to completing side quests like gathering information about the island and rescuing human hostages, you’ll take over safehouses. These additions become human headquarters, and getting more brings you closer to fighting the Vampire Underboss, the ruler of the area. These elite enemies boast unique attacks and require your full might along with your team’s efforts to kill them for good.
We also took a look at vampire nests. A giant heart fuels these supernatural lairs, and infiltrating means cutting the heart out of the body. Swarms of vampires will surely try to stop you, but succeeding causes a nest to collapse, which means you’ll have to get out fast. Additionally, Arkane featured the Shroud enemy type, a vampire that can cover areas in pitch darkness, fire projectiles, as well as avoid danger through floors. We also saw some of the heroes’ more exclusive abilities and upgrades, like endowing Layla’s umbrella with a perk that allows it to absorb and fire incoming bullets.
Redfall will be available on Xbox Series X/S and PC and will be available on Game Pass at launch.
